Our History

In 1958, this tiny toy dump truck was given to Earl & Ruth Martin as a wedding present by Ruth’s sister. The truck included a hand-painted inscription that read “Earl R Martin, Inc.”, and so the dream was born.
Earl R. Martin was founded as a sole proprietorship in April of 1965, when Earl Sr. bought his very first truck. Since then, Earl has successfully grown the company by always taking care of the customer and making sure each and every delivery was done right. From these humble beginnings to the present day, those values have not changed.
The business was officially incorporated in June of 1973.
ERM purchased its first fuel tanker in 1974 for the primary purpose of hauling our own product. However, it wasn’t very long before the company started making petroleum runs for local businesses as well.
Shop Enhancements
A Wash Bay, Parts Room, and Office were added to the original 1278 East Earl Road location.
Commercial Towing Services were added in 1998.
Martin Brokerage, Inc was formed in 2001.
In October 2010, the original Earl R. Martin “signature” mark was replaced with a newly designed company logo.
The company further expanded its services in 2013 after purchasing two Westmore Industries propane tankers from Hy-Tec, Inc. A third unit was added to the fleet in the Fall of the same year.
The ERM logo was modified at the end of 2014 in preparation for the company’s “golden anniversary” in 2015.
On March 5th, 2015, 14 acres of land was purchased just southeast of York Building Products at 724 E Earl Rd. The additional property (part of a 24 acre parcel) is currently planned as the future site of the new ERM, Inc. headquarters.
April 2015 marked the company’s 50th Anniversary, along with a year-long celebration to commemorate the event.
October 21st, 2016 was the official ground-breaking of our new Corporate Headquarters, with completion expected by mid-summer of the following year.
After years of planning and anticipation, the new Corporate Headquarters opened for business on Monday, June 12th, 2017. Stop by and visit us at 970 East Earl Road, in beautiful New Holland, PA.
FABRICATION SERVICES ADDED
Fabrication services were officially initiated in 2018.
A new Fuel Island was installed in August 2018. The fueling station provides DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fuel) and On-Road Biodiesel to the ERM fleet, its carriers, and regular customers.
In October of 2019, ERM decided to step away from Petroleum services. Throughout its duration, the company owned a total of 35 petroleum trailers, including 5 Westmore propane trailers purchased from locally operated HY-TEC. While ERM no longer maintains an active petroleum transportation division, the Fuel Island remains operational for the ERM fleet, as well as its partner carriers and local clientele.
Shortly following the start of fabrication services , it became apparent that the existing maintenance facility lacked the sufficient space to accommodate larger restoration projects and the increasing demands for fabrication work. As a result, a building expansion project commenced in 2022, adding nine additional service bays and becoming the new home for fabrication and restoration projects.
In August 2023, the South Shop was officially opened for business!
On May 2, 2025, Earl R Martin, Inc. celebrated 60 years in business, including an Anniversary Celebration for invited guests, customers, and valued partners.
